Gurtner leads area golfers at age group championships
Bremen’s Zach Gurtner finished with a four-over-par 148 to tie for ninth in the boys 16 flight as the Indiana Golf Foundation Age Group Championships concluded on the Black Course at Indiana National in Plymouth Thursday.
Gurtner shot a 2-under 70 in Wednesday’s opening round and entered Thursday’s final round in second place before turning in a 78 to slip to ninth in the final standings.
Also in the division, Plymouth’s Ben Schenk turned in a combined 10-over 154 for 22nd place, North Liberty’s Tyler Prentkowski moved up into a tie for 28th with a second round score of 75 to finish at 158 for the event, Plymouth’s Nate Kolter carded a 158 to place in a four-way tie for 28th, and Plymouth’s Zach Craft shot a combined 162 to place 36th in the final standings.
John Schenk followed up his 89 Wednesday with an 86 Thursday to finish fifth in the boys 12 flight, while fellow Plymouth resident Micah Calhoun carded a 90-93—183 for 30th in the boys 14 division.
