Lady Pilgrims lose at Warsaw
Plymouth played with heart and made a strong defensive effort, but it wasn't quite enough to get the Northern Lakes Conference win on the road in Warsaw Monday, as the Lady Pilgrims fell by a 3-1 margin.
Trailing 3-0, the Pilgrims got onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth, when Morgan O'Neal hit an inside the park home run.
Britney Horvath struck out seven while allowing just four hits from the same team that had run-ruled Plymouth earlier in the season.
Still trailing two runs, Plymouth rallied in the final frame as Katie Berg took advantage of third at-bat to reach scoring position with O'Neal returning to the plate. O'Neal made contact up the middle, but it had a little too much air under it as Waraw's Karly Jones made the catch to end the game.
Kailey Whitley led Plymouth's defense with stellar outfield play highlighted by a diving catch in the top of the seventh.
