Boys track
Plymouth, NorthWood, Bremen, LaVille compete at Kelly Relays
Plymouth’s boys track team rounded out the field in seventh place in the A Division at the Kelly Boys Track Relays Friday night, while NorthWood finished fifth in the division, Bremen was third in the B Division standings, and LaVille was sixth in the small school division.
Plymouth’s top finisher was Dan Samuelson as he won both the discus and the shot put with respective throws of 143’2” and 51’3”.
The Pilgrims’ freshman 800 sprint medley relay team of Terrance Hooten, Logan Crum, A.J. Styers and Jack Barron placed third in their event, while Barron, Styers, Michael Hartman and Taylor Fulton placed fourth in the 4x400.
NorthWood’s best finish came in the high jump, where teammates Devon Hunsberger and Bennet Parker tied for first with jumps of 6’1”, while Albert Gongwer cleared 12 feet in the pole vault to tie for second there.
Bremen’s 3200 relay team placed second in their event, Bremen’s distance medley relay was second in their race, and the Lions’ 440 shuttle hurdle relay, 1600 relay and 800 sprint medley relay all placed third in their events.

Baseball
Bremen rallies past Culver
Bremen plated a walk-off run in the bottom of the seventh to break a 5-5 tie, and the Lions continued their win streak with a 6-5 Northern State Conference win over visiting Culver Community Friday.
Dillon Mullen got the win giving up two walks with no hits closing the door on Culver in relief of Jacob Bennitt in the seventh. Bennitt turned in a three-hit, two-walk performance allowing two earned runs with five strikeouts lasting six innings.
Drew Coffel’s three-run home run in the fifth propelled Bremen into a 5-4 lead after a three-run third by the visitors. Brother Tyler Coffel recorded an RBI double, and Bobby Cornett finished with two hits and two runs scored for the Lions, who remain in the NSC hunt at 7-2 with an 11-2 overall mark.
Kyle Vlach took the loss in a complete-game outing for Culver, which slips to 1-11 with an 0-6 Northern State record with Friday’s narrow loss.

Softball
Bremen wins in 5 at Culver
Lexi Pate moved to 4-0 on the season with a two-hit shutout, and Bremen’s softball team remained unbeaten in Northern State Conference play with a 12-0 win in five innings at Culver Community Friday night.
Pate struck out six with one walk lasting four innings on the way to her third NSC win for the Lady Lions. Mikayla Gardner completed the shutout, giving up no hits and no walks in the fifth.
Brooke Baker and Emily Molden each drove in three runs, and Megan Stouder went 1-for-1 officially at the plate with three runs, a triple, an RBI and a stolen base as Bremen moved to 12-1 overall with a perfect 9-0 league mark.

Jr. high boys golf
Lincoln boys top 3-way
The Lincoln Junior High boys golf team continued its win streak Thursday night with a pair of wins over LaVille and Tippecanoe Valley at home at the Plymouth Country Club.
The Red Storm beat out LaVille 264-310 and Tippy Valley 264-362.
John Schenk shot the meet low round for Lincoln with a season-best 40. Hudson Yoder shot 42, and John Gerard carded 43 in the second and third overall spots as the Red Storm seem to be peaking at the right time with two tournaments coming up next week.

Jr. high girls golf
Lincoln girls win 2
The Lincoln girls golf team earned a pair of wins over LaVille and Tippecanoe Valley on the Lady Red Storm’s home course at Plymouth Country Club Thursday.
Katie Johnson shot a 49 to lead the field, while Jennah Nifong took second with a personal best 51. Abby Kraszyk tied for third with a 52, and Leah Smith shot a 57 to finish in a tie for fifth.

Middle school boys track
Bremen falls vs Jimtown
The Bremen Middle School boys track team lost a 58-50 meet with NSC foe Jimtown.
The Lions won six events in the team loss.
Jacob Strehler was a dual winner in both throwing events, Grant Klockow won both the 100-meter dash and the 200, Maciah Yoder won the 1600, and Bremen’s 400-meter relay team of Humberto Gonzolez, Damon Young, Andrew Smith and Klockow won their event.
Yoder also finished second in the 800, while Andrew Smith was second in the high jump, and Briley Leeper was second in the long jump.
