Girls track
Lady Pilgrims beat Concord
Plymouth’s girls track team claimed a convincing 72.5-59.5 Northern Lakes Conference win over visiting Concord in a dual meet at home Tuesday.
The Lady Pilgrims saw most of their top finishes in the field events.
Shannon Stephenson won the discus and Bobbie Stiles finished second in the event, and the duo flipped in another one-two finish in the shot put. Kaydon Fosler won both the high jump and the long jump, where she and Traci Longanecker finished one-two. Cassie Quissell won the pole vault, followed in second place by Longanecker as Plymouth went one-two in that event as well.
On the track, Meagan Fisher was a dual winner in the 3200 relay and the 800-meter run, where she and Libby Read finished one-two, while Allie Wright was a winner in the 3200 relay and the open 400.
Read and Abby Patrick also competed on Plymouth’s 4x800 for the Pilgrims’ lone relay win of the night, and Patrick placed second in the open 3200.
Also for Plymouth, Sammi Davis and Katelyn O’Neal finished second and third, respectively in the low hurdles, and the twosome placed fourth and third, respectively in the 100-meter hurdles.

Girls tennis
Plymouth takes 1st NLC loss
Plymouth’s girls tennis team took its first Northern Lakes Conference loss of the season in a 4-1 defeat at Goshen Tuesday night.
Plymouth’s only win came in three sets at 2 doubles, as Emily Blake and Ellen Smith trumped Goshen’s Leah Shetler and Kayci Troyer in a competitive 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 match.
Plymouth’s 1 doubles team of Marissa German and Andria Shook fell on the wrong side of another three-setter 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 to Emily Halley and Ali Peters, and Carly Berger extended Sarah Rush to a first-set tiebreaker before falling in straight sets, 7-6(3), 6-3.

Boys golf
NorthWood, Triton, Plymouth compete at Harris Shootout
Warsaw avenged a loss to NorthWood at the Wawasee Invitational over the weekend with a three-stroke victory over the Panthers at the Tigers’ Joe Harris Shootout, while Triton placed third with a 317 team score, and Plymouth was fifth with a 322 at the nine-team invitational at Rozella-Ford Tuesday.
Triton was led by Quentyn Carpenter’s 73 and Ryan Rapp’s 75, while Tanner Shepherd shot 80, and freshman Greg Music turned in an 89 as the Trojans finished nine strokes behind NorthWood.
Plymouth was paced by Ben Schenk’s career-low 74 and Nate Kolter’s season-low 77, while Zach Craft carded an 84, and Curt Corsbie shot 87 for the Pilgrims.
Dylan Gessinger and Payton Grubbs both shot 75 for NorthWood, while Logan Kauffman and Brayden Glaser each shot 79.

Glenn tops 4-way
Tyler Prentkowski shot a meet-low 38, Michael Schmeltz followed a stroke behind, and John Glenn topped a four-way field at Indiana National Tuesday.
C.J. Jaske shot 47, and Nick VanderVeldon carded 48 for the Falcons as they posted a team score of 172 ahead of Goshen’s 175.
LaVille was led by Zach Gurtner’s co-low of 38, while Cam Gurtner shot 42, Tyler Thomas shot 51, and Dustin Royer shot 61 for LaVille, which beat out LaLumiere 192-198 at the meet for its first win of the season.

Softball
Trojans top North Miami
Mallorie Jennings threw a two-hit shutout, Krystal Sellers and Allyson Brown both homered, and Triton earned a 9-0 victory over visiting North Miami Tuesday evening.
Jennings fanned 11 while tossing seven innings of shutout ball for the win inside the circle.
Sellers finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs, highlighted by a homer in the third inning as the Trojans put up four runs in the frame. Jennings also went 3-for-4 with two RBI at the plate, both coming on a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth. Lillie Berger, Brycelyn Garbison, and Janae Kreft all finished 2-for-3.
Brown’s homer came in the fourth as the Trojans scratched out four runs a second straight inning to bring the score to what would prove to be the final margin.

Bremen moves to 11-0 vs LaVille
Lexi Pate moved to 3-0 on the year inside the circle for Bremen, and the Lady Lions remained unbeaten with a six-inning 15-2 Northern State Conference win over host LaVille Tuesday.
Pate surrendered two earned runs off four hits with three walked and seven struck out. Chelsea Huppert scored five runs for Bremen, which moved to 11-0 on the season and 6-0 in league play.
Shelby Zellmer doubled and Rachael Czarnecki tripled for the Lions.

CMA loses at Marian
Trent Kolden homered in the fourth, but Culver Military recorded just three hits in a 7-2 loss to host Mishawaka Marian Tuesday.
Marian out-hit the Eagles 8-3 and put up six runs over the second and third frames, never looking back in the win.

Trojans fall vs Cougars
Triton’s baseball team lost a 7-1 Northern State Conference game at home against visiting New Prairie Tuesday.
The Trojans notched just three hits while leaving six on base. New Prairie scratched out six runs during the second to take the lead for good.
