Girls tennis
CGA wins 9th straight sectional
The host Lady Eagles swept Rochester 5-0 to win their ninth straight tennis title at the Culver Girls Academy Sectional Thursday.
CGA surrendered just eight games on all five courts in the win. Natalia Lopez-Yanez beat Maddie Lewis 6-0, 6-1 at 1 singles, Rachel Simon was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Shelby Bankson at 2 singles, and Alena Arkhipov beat Brooke Ewing 6-0, 6-2 at 3 singles.
Pita Navarro and Regina Padilla defeated Adrian Paulik and Caitlyn Patterson 6-2, 6-2 at 1 doubles, and Kendall Whitehurst and Maria Solis put away Aubry Franklin and Kaitlyn Bugnoin straight sets.
The defending regional-champion Eagles play host to a four-team regional field and will play the winner at the Peru Sectional May 21-22. The winner at Bremen will play the winner at Warsaw in the other bracket.

Pritz lifts Culver past Argos
Nick Pritz's two-out hit in the bottom of the seventh drove in the game-winner to break a 5-5 tie, and Culver Community earned a 6-5 walk-off victory over Argos at Coveleski Stadium Thursday night.
Pritz doubled and tripled in the win, and Chris Zehner also tripled for Culver, which improved to 6-15.

Glenn survives Elkhart Christian
John Glenn plated two runs in the top of the fifth, and the Falcons made it stand up in a 2-0 win at Elkhart Christian Thursday night.
Glenn managed just five hits against Ball State recruit Caleb Stayton, and it was two errors and a balk in the fifth that wound up making the difference.
Mark Einhorn reached on an error at short, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error, Justin Gierlowski was intentionally walked before Stayton balked home Einhorn, setting the plate for David Jaworski's RBI single down the right field line that brought the score to its eventual final.
Gierlowski got the shutout win giving up just three hits while striking out nine in a complete outing as the Falcons moved to 16-8.

Boys golf
Pilgrims fall in 3-way at Stonehenge
Plymouth's boys golf team fell to both Warsaw and a much-improved Elkhart Memorial team in the three team's Northern Lakes Conference round robin closer at Stonehenge Thursday night.
Nate Kolter led Plymouth with a round of 39, while Kurt Corsbie shot 42, Ben Schenk shot 44, and Kendall Fosler carded 48 to complete the Pilgrims' team score.
Warsaw edged out Memorial 156-158 to keep an unbeaten streak of more than three years on its home course intact.
The teams will meet again Saturday morning in the NLC tournament at Goshen's Maplecrest Country Club.

4 Trojans shoot in 30s
Ryan Rapp shot an even-par 36 to lead Triton, and the Trojans posted four scores in the 30s to beat both Jimtown and Knox in a three-way golf meet Thursday at Hamlet.
Freshman Greg Music carded a 37 behind Rapp's 36, Quentyn Carpenter shot 38, and Lucas Shafer carded 39 for Triton's fourth score.
Knox was led by Dante Freet's 48 as the Redskins fell 173-210 to Jimtown.

Judson tops, Culver splits 3-way
Culver Community beat West Central 190-203 but fell by 20 strokes to North Judson in a three-way golf meet at Chesapeake Run Thursday.
Trent Elliott led the field with a 1-under 35 for Culver, while Cody Peterson carded 44, and Tevin Jones and Kenny VanDePutte came in in 55 and 56, respectively for the Cavs.
Judson was led by Levi Bailey's 40 and Lee Lukac's 41. Peyton Manns carded 44, and Connor Devorscak shot 45 for the consistent Bluejays.
