Lady Pilgrims fall
The Plymouth Lady Pilgrims kicked off their softball season with a tough 18-0 loss in five innings at Mishawaka High School.
Seniors Morgan Oâ€™ Neal and April Hampton had only lone base hits for the Pilgrims, who had several baserunners but struggled to get across home plate.
The JV Lady pilgrims had a bright start, opening with two runs, but later finished the night on the wrong side of a 13-3 effort.
Plymouth will be back in action on Saturday at Laporte at 11 a.m.

LaVille tops Argos
LaVille opened the year with a 10-3 win in a contest with visiting Argos in Lakeville Thursday night.
Hannah Herbster earned the win inside the circle and helped her own cause at the plate with four hits on the night. Tana Newkirk finished with two hits for the Lady Lancers, who out-hit Argos 9-6.
Charlie Horn took the pitching loss for Argos. Raelynn LaFrance and McKayla Casu each recorded two hits for Argos, which moved to 1-2 one night after a dominant 20-6 win on the road in Culver.
Argos hosts Triton Saturday at 11 a.m. and travels to Pioneer Monday at 5 p.m.
LaVille will be back in action Saturday with a game at Henryville at 11 a.m. and another at Paoli at 5 p.m.

Glenn moves to 3-0
John Glenn got jumped on top with a three-run first, then tacked on two more runs in the second and third innings, and the Falcons held off visiting South Bend Riley for a 5-4 victory at home Thursday night, staying perfect on the year at 3-0.
Drew McDonald and David Jaworski each finished with two hits. McDonald led things off for Glenn with a single in the bottom of the first and scored the home teamâ€™s first run on a fielderâ€™s choice by Kyle Liedtky.
McDonald also recorded an RBI driving in Austin Bloss in the third for Glennâ€™s final run, and Liedtky reached base in all four at-bats with two RBI on the night, including the McDonald score and another by Mark Einhorn as Glenn pushed the score out to 4-0 in the second inning.
Justin Gierlowski earned the complete-game win on the mound.
Glenn looks to remain perfect as it hosts Rochester in a doubleheader Saturday at noon.

Culver slips to 0-2
Caston dropped a six-spot in the third inning, and Culver Community slipped to an 0-2 start with a 12-7 loss on the road in Fulton Thursday.
Everett Krueger was credited with the loss on the mound for Culver, relieving Nick Pritz in the second and lasting into the fourth.
Pritz homered and Collin Stevens doubled for the Cavs.

LaVille falls in opener
South Bend Washington stretched six hits into 14 runs, and the Panthers handed visiting LaVille a 14-4, five-inning loss in the Lancersâ€™ opener on the road Thursday.
Jordan smith tripled and Josh Chrisman doubled for LaVille, and Bryce Bustamante took the loss in his first start for LaVille.
Tyler White earned the win on the mound for Washington, which moved to 2-2.
The Lancers will travel to Riley tonight for a 5 p.m. start.

Plymouth blanks Glenn
Plymouthâ€™s girls tennis team opened its season with a strong 5-0 defeat of visiting John Glenn at Centennial Park Thursday night.
the Lady Pilgrims won easily at all positions, giving up just two total games for the night, one at 1 singles and the other at 1 doubles.
Glenn will look to rebound when it hosts Bethany Christian Monday at 5 p.m. Plymouth will travel to Valparaiso Monday for a 5:15 p.m. start.

Ferris, Byrne lead CMA
Dean Ferris finished with four goals, Pierre Byrne notched another three, and Culver Militaryâ€™s boys lacrosse team earned a dominant 14-2 win over Detroit Country Day at Notre Dame.
Riley Thompson finished with a goal and three assists, meanwhile, and McKenzie Dawson had a goal and two assists.
Nic Peterson made three saves in goal for the Eagles, who moved to 4-1 with the win.
