Pitching key in Ancilla sweep
A pair of solid pitching performances helped buoy Ancilla’s softball team to a doubleheader sweep of Jackson Community College in MCCAA West play, 2-1 and 4-1.
In game one, Courtney Clark scattered five Jackson hits, getting 11 straight outs in the late innings to earn her fourth win of the season.
In the second game, Brianna McClellan pitched 6 2/3 innings of no-hit softball, finally allowing one run on two hits to earn her second victory of the season. She struck out five in the win.
Offensively, the Chargers were led by leadoff hitter Emily Wibur in game one. Wilbur was 3-4 and scored both Ancilla runs, one on an RBI single by Plymouth alum Marissa Sullivan in the first and another in the third on a Clark single.
In game two, Wilbur, Sullivan, and Kayla Dell each collected two hits and a RBI.
