Lady Lions slip to 0-2 with loss to Vikings
Bremen’s girls track team slipped to 0-2 on the season with its second loss in three days, an 84-47 defeat by visiting Fairfield at home Thursday.
The Lady Lions earned wins in four events at the meet as Sara Slabaugh won the 3200, Jenna Pfeiffer won the high jump, Sophie Brown won the pole vault, and Bremen’s 400 relay team of Shannon Miller, Vianca MonteDeoca, Jasmine Schaffer and Paige Weldy took top honors in their race.

Boys track
Bremen falls to Fairfield
Just two days after a win over visiting Marian, Bremen’s boys track team fell 93-35 in a dual meet with Fairfield at home Thursday.
Leading the way once more for Bremen was Josh Brenneman with wins in both hurdles races and in the long jump. Thomas Dean ran the opening leg of Bremen’s winning 3200 relay team, and he finished second in both the 1600 and 3200.
Fairfield went one-two in all field events except the long jump, which Brenneman won, and the discus.

Pitching costs Triton opener at NorthWood
Triton took a 10-0 drubbing on the road at NorthWood Thursday to lose its season opener in five innings.
The Panthers tallied just three hits in the abbreviated win, but Trojans pitchers gave up 11 bases with six NorthWood hit batsmen and five walks.
Triton left five runners stranded, including two in scoring position in the shutout.
Bryson Mosier, Pete Kauffman, Cody Shively and Keito Morikawa recorded the Trojans’ four hits in the loss.

Softball
Lady Panthers trump Lions in 9
Washington plated a run in the bottom of the ninth to claim a narrow 7-6 win over visiting Bremen in South Bend Thursday.
The Lady Lions cranked out 15 hits to Washington’s 11, but the Panthers recorded seven extra-base hits against Bremen’s pitching staff to win their opener and hand the visitors their second loss of the young season.
Bremen jumped out to an initial 5-0 lead but surrendered five runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to knot the game up.
Leading the Lions at the plate was Bethany Grove with a 3-for-4 batting performance, a double and a run scored, while Saylor Bailey went 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Allison Shorter went 2 for 4 with a double, a run and two RBI. Megan Stouder, Rachael Czarnecki and Kailee Feldman each went 2 for 5 at the game, meanwhile, and Feldman finished with a triple and two RBI.
Bailey took the loss inside the circle relieving Mikayla Gardner in the fifth to slip to 0-2 on the year.
The Lions will take a week off before playing at Riley May 10.
