CGA uses big 3rd
to eliminate Jimtown
Culver Girls Academy used a 21-0 run spanning from midway through the third quarter to the 6:14 mark of the fourth, pushing its lead to a comfortable 36-14 for an eventual 38-23 win over Jimtown at the New Prairie Sectional Wednesday.
CGA bigs Andrijana Cvitkovic and Victoria Christlieb put up 12 and 11 points, respectively, as the defending champion Lady Eagles advanced to play Mishawaka Marian — which topped host New Prairie 49-40 in Wednesday’s other quarterfinal — in the late semifinal at the tournament Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET following a matchup between Plymouth and St. Joseph’s at 6 p.m.

Men’s college basketball
Ball State falls to Bowling Green, 61-54
The Ball State men’s basketball team suffered a 61-54 setback to Mid-American Conference East Division foe Bowling Green Wednesday night at Worthen Arena.
Plymouth alum Randy Davis knocked down 3 of 6 3-pointers for nine points to go with four assists and a pair of rebounds in the loss.
The Cardinals wrap up MAC crossover play Saturday morning as they travel to Kent State. Game time is set for 11 a.m. against the Golden Flashes and will be nationally televised on ESPNU.

Women’s college basketball
Belles clinch MIAA tournament berth
An early 12-0 run along with a late 13-0 run propelled the Saint Mary’s basketball team to a 68-43 win over Adrian on Wednesday night.
Plymouth grad Jessica Centa put up 12 points on the night for the Belles.
With the win, the Belles (12-11, 8-6 MIAA) secured at least a top-four finish in the league for the regular season and a berth in the top-four-only MIAA Tournament.
