CMA ends regular season
Culver Military was outscored 25-17 in the final quarter, and the Eagles fell short of capturing a regular season victory with a 66-63 loss to visiting Mishawaka Friday night.
CMA was led by a game-high 23 points from Hayes Barnes, while Dante Scott put up 21 in the loss, which closes the Eagles’ regular season at 0-22.
Mishawaka was led by Cody Childress’ 17 as four Mishawaka players finished in double figures to trump CMA.
CMA plays the host Pilgrims at the Class 3A Plymouth Sectional Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Filchak takes 16th at state
Bremen’s Nolan Filchak placed 16th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.07, while Culver Military Academy’s Leopoldo Burguete finished 30th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:04.43, and the Eagles placed 29th in the 400 free relay at the Boys State Swim Finals over the weekend.
In addition to his individual finish in the 500 free, Burguete swam the second leg of Culver’s 400 free relay team, and he, Jorge DeLaVega, Bryan DeVries and Zach Grant combined to clock a 3:20.56 at the big meet.
CGA beats Ohio Flames
Culver Girls Academy ran up a 3-0 lead in the first period and held of the visiting Ohio Flames in a girls hockey game at The Academies.
Meghan Grieves scored twice for CGA at the 1:26 and 1:12 stops of the first, and Gracen Hirschy netted the Lady Eagles another goal with 22 seconds remaining in the frame to put the hosts up 3-0.

Argos 8th splits
Argos’ eighth grade girls basketball team split a pair of games at the Fairfield Eighth Grade Girls Basketball Tournament, beating Milford 51-27 but losing to tourney champion Westview 39-23.
The eighth grade Lady Dragons were led by Valerie Rospopo’s 23 points in the win over Milford, while Courtney Dunlap finished with 13.
In Argos’ loss to Westview, Rospopo put up 11 points, while Hannah Harrell tallied six.
7th grade girls basketball
Argos 7th goes 1-1 at Fairfield tourney
Argos beat Milford 28-25 but lost to eventual tourney champion Westview 40-21 at the Fairfield Seventh Grade Girls Basketball Tournament over the weekend.
The Lady Dragons were led by Wyranne Leed’s 10 points in the win over Milford, while Gabby Cataldo and Madison Lineberry each finished with six.
Courtney Dunlap was the high scorer for Argos in the loss to Westview with five points, while Emily Calhoun and Katherine Middleton each finished with four points in the loss.

PUC loses CCAC title game
The Purdue University Calumet women’s basketball team fell short in the CCAC Tournament championship game, falling to No. 15 Cardinal Stritch, 71-63, on Saturday afternoon.
Plymouth alum Alex Starr finished with seven points, three rebounds and an assist in the loss for the Peregrines, who fell for just the third time in their last 13 games, slide to 23-10 on the year.
Purdue Calumet will have to wait until February 29 to hear the fate, when the NAIA announces the 2012 national tournament bracket.
