CMA cruises past Adams
Culver Military jumped out to an early 5-1 lead to cruise to an eventual 6-3 victory over visiting South Bend Adams in a varsity hockey game Wednesday at The Academies.
Brock Frazer put CMA on the board at the 7:03 mark of the first period. His goal at the 13:50 stop of the second broke a 1-1 tie, and he went on to score a hat trick. Daniel Vaughan had two goals and an assist, and Kyle Bartelman finished with a goal and two assists in the win.

Women’s college basketball
PUC reaches 20 wins
The Purdue University Calumet women’s basketball team became the fifth team in program history to reach the 20-win plateau, defeating Trinity Christian, 66-47, on Wednesday night.
The Peregrines improve to 20-9 overall and 9-2 in the CCAC with the win.
Plymouth grad and PUC junior Alex Starr scored 16 points with three 3s at the game following a selection as the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week after surpassing the 1,000-point career mark during a win over Trinity International on Saturday.
Purdue Calumet will wrap up the 2011-12 regular season this Saturday when it host local rival Calumet St. Joseph during Hall of Fame festivities. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Men’s college basketball
Cardinals fall to Toledo, 63-55
The Ball State men’s basketball team suffered a 63-55 loss to Mid-American Conference foe Toledo Wednesday evening at Worthen Arena.
Plymouth alum Randy Davis put up eight points with four rebounds and a pair of assists in the loss, which drops the Cardinals to 12-12 on the year and 4-8 in MAC play.
The Cardinals step out of MAC play this weekend to take part in the annual Sears BracketBusters event. Ball State will host Missouri Valley Conference member Southern Illinois Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Worthen Arena.
