Girls basketball
Lady Lancers pull away in 4th
LaVille used a strong fourth quarter to turn a one-point game at the end of three quarters into a 65-51 win over New Prairie in Northern State Conference girls basketball action at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium Friday.
Kelsey Gurtner scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Lancers. Hannah Herbster chipped in 19 points for LaVille, and McKenzie Leed added 12 points.
LaVille heads to Bethany Christian Monday.

Dragons get defensive
Argos’ girls basketball team used a mighty defensive effort in a 44-19 win at Elkhart Christian Thursday.
Offensively, Argos posts Kayla Prochno and Libby Moyer scored 12 points apiece.
Argos hosts Lakewood Park this afternoon.

Men’s college basketball
Chargers back on track
The Ancilla College men’s basketball defeated the Grace College JV 78-62. The win boosts their record to 6-2 on the regular season.
Demetrius Adams had a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds. Jacob Frazier led the Chargers in scoring with 18 points and eight rebounds. Rosey Green added 16 points, while Jakyah Quayim finished with nine points.
The Chargers move to 6-2 on the season and will continue to work when they host No. 4 Danville Area Community College Wednesday with tipoff at 7:30 p.m. They then close out the first part of their schedule with a home game against Illinois Valley Community College Friday, Dec. 14.

Men’s college wrestling
Holmquest wins
Plymouth alum Chuck Holmquest earned a 4-2 decision at 157 pounds as Manchester College faced off with No. 17 Ohio Northern Friday.
Holmquest was one of just three winners for the Squires as they fell 30-15 to slip to 0-4 on the young season.
