Morgan Township hands Culver 1st loss
Morgan Township knocked down 14 free throws on 19 second-half attempts, and the home team rallied back from a 23-19 halftime deficit to hand Culver Community its first loss of the season, 49-43 Saturday.
Trent Elliott was held to 12 points to lead Culver, while Jordan Sanders finished with nine before fouling out in the defeat, which drops the team to 3-1.
Morgan was paced by Chase Braden’s game-high 22 points as the Cherokees earned their first win under head coach Eric Braden.

Girls basketball
LaVille wins NSC opener
Kelsey Gurtner scored 18 in her third straight game in double figures, and LaVille claimed its second win in three game, 41-24 at Jimtown Saturday.
McKenzie Leed finished with nine points, and Hannah Herbster scored six as the Lady Lancers opened their Northern State Conference schedule with a win.
Ally Vicsik scored 11 to pace Jimtown.

Columbia powers Glenn
Kyler Columbia knocked down four 3s on her way to 22 points, and John Glenn won its Northern State Conference opener at New Prairie Saturday.

SJA shoots past CGA
Culver Girls Academy fell 59-33 to St. Joseph Academy on the second day of the team’s annual trip to Ohio Saturday.
Saralena Barry finished with 10 points for the Lady Eagles, who slipped to 5-2.
St. Joe poured in nine 3-pointers at the game, led by Katie Battaglia’s three 3s en route to 15 points.

CMA wins Plymouth invite
Culver Military Academy put up a dominant 106 points, and the Eagles won against a five-team field as they hosted the Plymouth Invitational for the first time Saturday.
Plymouth placed third at the meet with 60 points as the Pilgrims were unable to host the annual meet after their pool closed down last summer.

Lions take 2nd at Goshen Invite
Bremen put up 102 points to finish second at behind the host Redskins at the Goshen Relays Saturday.

Lady Eagles top Plymouth Invite field
Culver Girls Academy tallied 104 points, and the Lady Eagles won the Plymouth Invitational in CGA’s pool Saturday.
Plymouth placed third with 62 points, and North Judson was sixth with 28 points.

Wrestling
Eagles dominate at Winamac Super 6
The Culver Academies saw seven wrestlers go undefeated Saturday, and the Eagles won the Winamac Super Six Duals with a dominant 5-0 team record.
Steven Muthart, Kayla Miracle, Chayton Durham, David Zajac, Noah Trevino, Anthony McHugh and Edmond Hogan all finished 5-0 for the Academies.
Joe Henry was also unbeaten at 3-0, while Collin Parker went 4-1 on the day.
