Lady Cats lose Holiday Classic opener
Penn saw nine different players score, and the Lady Kingsmen handed Class A No. 2 Oregon-Davis a 63-42 defeat in the Texas Roadhouse Holiday Classic at South Bend Washington Thursday.
The Lady Cats were paced by Ashley Campbell’s game-high 16 points. Jesse Avarone scored 10, and Haley Collings and Alicia McIntosh each scored seven in the loss.
Penn was led by 11 points from Taylor Lutz and 10 from Jessica Alexander as the team moved to 9-3.
The defeat halted a seven-game win streak and represents just the second loss this season for OD, which slips to 9-2 and will play Michigan City today at noon in the Holiday Classic.
Penn will play Michigan City in another Pool A game at 6 p.m. tonight.

Culver bounces back at Judson
Culver Community jumped out to a 17-7 lead in the first quarter, and the Cavaliers bounced back from a tough double overtime loss to Jimtown with a 56-44 win at North Judson Thursday night.
Kyle Vlach finished with 16 points and three steals for Culver, while Collin Stevens recorded 13 points and five assists, and Jordan Sanders scored 12. Trent Elliott finished with eight points, and Micah Budzinski scored four points with 11 rebounds and four assists for the Cavs, who moved to 6-2 on the year.
Judson was led by Shawn Green’s 10 points and Jacob Shabi’s nine. Dalton Bailey finished with seven points, seven rebounds and five assists in the loss, which drops the Bluejays to 2-5.
