CMA, Bremen compete at IHSWCA State Dual Meet Championships
Culver Military placed fourth in the AA standings, and Bremen finished sixth in the Class A field at the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association’s first annual State Dual Meet Championships Saturday.
The Eagles started the day with a stunning 36-30 win over Jimtown before falling to eventual Class AA runner-up Evansville Memorial in a narrow 39-32 decision in the semifinals and losing to Danville 55-9 in the third-place match.
The Lions opened the day with a 44-21 loss to Class A runner-up Churubusco, beat South Adams 36-33 in the wrestleback round, and suffered a 45-35 loss to Milan in the fifth-place match.
Perry Meridian won the Class AAA championship by a 46-11 margin versus Franklin, Yorktown won the class AA title with a 54-21 victory over Evansville Memorial, and Adams Central won the Class A title in a head-to-head with Churubusco, 46-23.
It was the first year of the IHSWCA’s State Dual Meet Championships, intended to replace the IHSAA’s team state championship meet as that body’s state series has been refashioned to a more individual-oriented format.
