Boys basketball
LaVille loses at Marian
LaVille watched a slim three-point halftime edge disappear with a 43-23 second half by host Mishawaka Marian, and the Lancers took their first loss of the season to the Knights on the road Tuesday, 73-56.
Andrew Hostetler led LaVille (1-1) in scoring, knocking down 6 of 13 3-point attempts for 18 points, while Nick Amor finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Jordyn Williams tallied 10 points as the third and final LaVille player in double figures in the loss.
Marian (2-0) was led by Division I prospect junior Demetrius Jackson, who finished 10 for 20 to lead all scorers with 27 points to go with a game-high five assists.
LaVille will resume play at Argos Tuesday, Dec. 6. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.

Glenn suffers narrow loss
John Glenn was outscored 14-4 by host Riley in the second quarter, and the Falcons’ rally fell short in a tough 61-59 loss to the host Wildcats on the road Tuesday night.
Glenn (1-2) was led by senior point guard Josh Anderson’s 29 points, while Nathan Stegemiller tallied 12 points in the loss.
Riley (1-1) was led by Damion Ross’ 17 potions and Brock Cosey’s 16 in the Wildcats’ first win of the young season.
Glenn hits the road once more for another contest at Concord Friday at 7:30 p.m.

OD takes loss at LaCrosse
LaCrosse held Oregon-Davis to four points in the third quarter, and the Bobcats lost a close one on the road at LaCrosse Tuesday, 53-51.
Jake Jones and Craig McIntosh each put up 12 points, while Zach Taylor had 10 for the balanced OD offense as the Bobcats got off to an 0-2 start.
Riley Charlesworth led all scorers with 16 points for LaCrosse (1-1).
OD plays host to South Central Friday, with a tip-off scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

LaVille tops Bremen
LaVille won eight of 14 matches — seven by pinfall and one by forfeit — and the Lancers handed host Bremen a 48-36 loss in a dual Northern State Conference meet Tuesday.
Tristan Weaver, Greg Peppers, Micahel Wireman, Daniel Perkins, Chris Bailey, Nate Slater and Garrett Lead all won by pinfall for LaVille, while Bremen’s Tyler Felton, Joey Bailey, Dylan Shumaker, Josh Fuchs and Abe Hall all pinned their opponents in a meet that featured pinfalls in 12 of 14 matches.

8th grade boys basketball
Lincoln slays Dragons
The Lincoln eighth grade boys basketball team traveled to Argos on Tuesday night and defeated the Dragons 61-20.
The Red Storm (6-0) jumped the Dragons early, building a 23-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back.
Jack Barron led the Red Storm with 14 points, and Zach Combs netted nine points. Matt Friar added eight points and grabbed five rebounds, and Josh Anders added seven points and grabbed five rebounds. Steve Helm added six points, and Trevor Neidlinger finished with four points.
The Red Storm host conference foe Warsaw Lakeview on Thursday night.

7th grade boys basketball
Lincoln beats Argos
The Lincoln seventh grade boys basketball team used an 18-5 third quarter run to beat Argos 43-21 Tuesday night.
Leading the way for Lincoln were Ryan Carmichael with 13 points, while Dave Bacon scored 10, and John Gerard and Nick Felke recorded six each.
Travis Owen led the way on the boards with nine rebounds.
Lincoln plays Lakewood Thursday at home.

Davis scores 13 in win over Texas Southern
Plymouth product and Ball State senior point guard Randy Davis continued his strong start to the season, falling just shy of a double-double with 13 points and a game-high nine assists as the Cardinals picked up their third straight victory Tuesday evening with a 64-53 victory over visiting Texas Southern at Worthen Arena.
The Cardinals led by as many as 24 points in the contest as three different players scored in double figures for BSU to improve to 3-2 on the year.
Davis also recorded three rebounds and two steals in the home win. He leads the Mid-American Conference, averaging 7.8 assists per game this season while posting a 3.9 assist-to-turnover ratio through the first five games.
Michigan City grad Jarrod Jones paced the Ball State offense as he recorded his second straight double-double and 23rd of his career with 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Ball State hits the road for two straight games beginning Saturday afternoon as it travels to Tennessee-Martin in a return game from the ESPNU BracketBusters event. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
