Boys basketball
Cavs win opener
Trent Elliott knocked down three treys on his way to 16 points, and Culver handed visiting Rochester a 48-41 defeat in the two teams’ season-opener Wednesday.
Jacoda Anderson scored 12 points in the win for Culver, while Rochester was led by Andrew Riddle’s 15 and Zac Shoen’s 12.
The Cavs will travel to West Central Saturday with a 6:30 p.m. tip-off time.

Judson opens with win over Knox
North Judson routed county rival Knox 80-24 in coach Phil Shabi’s first game at the helm for the Bluejays at Judson Wednesday.
Winston Yergler put up a game-high 21 points, while Kendall Hochstedler scored 17 and John Eckert scored 13 for Judson, which opens at 1-0.
Knox was led by Austin Hansen’s eight points, and Dylan Short’s seven, meanwhile.
The Jays will next host Morgan Township on Dec. 2, while Knox plays at Morgan Township Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CST.

Wrestling
Triton falls to Tippy Valley
Triton won just three matches and lost seven by pinfall in a 54-15 dual meet loss to visiting Tippecanoe Valley Tuesday.
Trojans 106-pounder Joseph Soriano pinned Austin Nault in 3:04, while Tony Swanson gutted out a 12-10 overtime decision over Gary Long, and Zac Edmonds won by forfeit at heavyweight for Triton.
The Trojans will wrestle Saturday at the Elkhart Central Super Dual.

7th grade basketball
Lincoln takes 1st loss
The Lincoln seventh grade basketball team suffered its first loss of the season to Urey on Tuesday, 32-29.
The Red Storm jumped out to a 9-4 first quarter lead, but then cold shooting and turnovers ended up costing them the victory.
Leading the way in scoring for Lincoln was Ryan Carmichael with 10 points. Nick Felke chipped in with eight points and Kaleb Koss led the Red Storm in rebounding with five caroms.
Lincoln plays again next Monday versus Indian Springs.
The Lincoln seventh grade B Team continued its winning ways by defeating Urey 29-16, meanwhile. The Red Storm move to 3-0 with the win.
Leading the way in scoring for Lincoln was Hudson Yoder with eight points, while Mohammed Yasin and Alex Hoover chipped in with four points each.
The B team’s next game is set for Dec. 12 versus Triton.
