LaVille beats Fremont
at Class 2A Westview tourney
LaVille beat Fremont in four games in a Class 2A Westview Sectional quarterfinal Thursday, 25-19, 27-25, 13-25, 25-13.
The Lady Lancers move on to play Prairie Heights — which beat Central Noble in another four-set quarterfinal Thursday — in a Westview semifinal at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by a 12:30 p.m. match between host Westview and Bremen.
Middle hitter Katie Berger put away a team-leading 19 kills for LaVille, while outside hitter Kelsey Gurtner had nine, and fellow outside hitter Shelby Low finished with six.
Low led the team in digs with 17, while Kaitlyn Phillips finished with 36 assists and six aces in the win.

Knox beats Hanover Central at Class 3A Rensselaer tilt
Knox handled Hanover Central in three games, 25-7, 26-24, 25-8, in the first round of the Class 3A Rensselaer Sectional Thursday.
The Redskins move to 21-13 and will face Kankakee Valley in the second round of sectional play Saturday at 11 a.m. CST
Torie Elliott put down 10 kills, while Hannah Folkers and Kaitlin Zachary each registered six. Folkers and Elliott also finished with five and four aces, respectively, and Folkers tallied four blocks at the net behind Chelsea Collins’ five.
Nikki Frasure led the Lady Redskins in setting with 27 assists, while Madison Whiles passed out 15 digs.

OD, Argos fall at Culver
Oregon-Davis closed out its season with a three-set loss to defending champion South Central, 25-21, 25-15, 25-15, while Argos also wrapped up the year with a three-game defeat at the hands of Westville, 25-20, 25-12, 25-19 at the Class A Culver Community Sectional Thursday.
Westville and South Central will play in the second semifinal Saturday following a match between Culver and Triton — which beat Marquette Catholic in the tourney opener Wednesday — scheduled for 11 a.m. The championship will take place at 7 p.m.

7th grade football
Lincoln closes with loss to Whitko
The Lincoln seventh grade football team’s season came to an end Tuesday after Whitko defeated the Rockies 16-8 in the semifinals of the NELMSC tournament. The Rockies (9-2) drew first blood on a 3-yard Tristen McMillen touchdown run after quarterback David Bacon rumbled 56 yards on a keeper, but Whitko responded with two touchdowns and was able to hold the Rockies scoreless in the second half.
The loss ended an outstanding season in which the Rockies won their first eight games and handed rival Northwood its only loss of the season.
