Plymouth downs Triton
Triton came on strong in the final set, but it was too little, too late against the visiting Lady Pilgrims as Plymouth handed the host Trojans a 25-5, 25-11, 25-23 defeat Thursday.
Marissa German, Amber Redinger and Andria Shook registered respective kills totals of seven, six and five for the balanced Pilgrims attack, while Haley Harrell set 21 assists, and Kori Potozcky and Kelly Hoeffler served up three and two aces, respectively, and Savannah Mae put six digs to target. Redinger also recorded two solo blocks and two block assists at the net for Plymouth, which moved one win away from 20 at 19-14.
Megan Howdeshell recorded four kills and six aces for Triton, and she also led the team in passing, while Breanna Lemler, Marissa Ross and Shana Anderson led the Trojans in blocking.
Triton will play Marquette Catholic Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Culver Community Sectional, while Plymouth will play New Prairie Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in a quarterfinal at its home 3A sectional.

Bremen lost a five-set match to visiting Tippecanoe Valley Thursday, 25-23, 22-25, 25-27, 25-20, 15-13.
Brooke Baker pounded down 15 kills, and Cassie Sears had 13, and each had five blocks for the Lady Lions.
Allie Shorter had a balanced game with eight kills, three aces, three blocks and 36 assists, while Mikayla Gardner finished with 13 digs and two aces.

Culver wins another 5-setter
Culver took a win from visiting Westville in an extended five-game match Thursday, 17-25, 25-15, 25-20, 20-25, 21-19.
Aspen Kitchell finished with 16 kills and six assists, while Samantha Howard had 12 kills, five aces and nine assists, and Ali Overmyer and Kalee Miller finished with 23 and 19 digs, respectively for Culver, which moves to 8-18 with its second five-set win of the week.
The Lady Cavaliers will play the winner of Triton-Marquette Catholic at their home sectional in a semifinal Saturday at 11 a.m.

Eagles fall to St. Joe
Culver Girls Academy dropped a match with Plymouth Sectional foe St. Joseph’s 25-13, 25-17, 25-17 at the Academies Thursday.
Katy Bjornson finished with six kills, while Pita Navarro and Torrie Christlieb had five and four, respectively, for the Lady Eagles.
Emily Gilland led her team in setting with 17 assists to complement five digs and an ace, while Andrea Lin recorded 21 digs and an ace. Christlieb finished with three blocks, as did Emily Rich, while Navarro and Bjornson each had two for CGA, which falls to 24-6 on the year.
The Eagles will play Jimtown at the Plymouth Sectional Thursday at 6 p.m.

Knox beat Starke County rival North Judson in four games, 25-22, 16-25, 25-21, 25-16, Thursday at home.
The Lady Redskins move to 20 wins at 20-12 with the win and will host Logansport on Senior Night Monday at 5 p.m. CST. They play Hanover Central in the opener at the Rensselaer Central Sectional Thursday at 6 p.m. CST, while Judson plays host Hebron at the Class 2A Sectional 34 Thursday at 6:30 pm. CST

Plymouth ends season
with heartbreaker to Goshen
The Plymouth Freshman Rockies freshman football team concluded its season with a heartbreaking one-point loss to visiting Goshen Thursday night, 28-27.
Scoring for the young Rockies were Kyle Lacefield with three scores and Justin Drudge with one of his own. Plymouth finishes at 2-6 while Goshen improves to 6-2.

McBee helps power IUSB
Patrice McBee hammered down 10 kills as IUSB closed out its home schedule with a 25-15, 25-12, 19-25, 25-15 win over Purdue North Central on Thursday.
McBee also recorded a pair of block assists at the net for the Titans, who improved to 11-6.
