No. 2 OD trumps No. 9 Triton
Ashley Campbell scored 25 points and Class A No. 2 Oregon-Davis pestered No. 9 Triton into 22 turnovers for a 65-55 win over the host Lady Trojans in a match-up of state-ranked Sectional 51 rivals at the Trojan Trench Wednesday night.
Campbell finished with 25 points, four assists and seven rebounds to power the Lady Cats’ offense, while Haley Collings put up a double-double of 13 points and 19 rebounds for OD, which won its second straight.
Alicia McIntosh, Jessica Avarone and Lexi Minix each chipped in nine points, and McIntosh recorded six steals in the win over Triton, which suffered its first consecutive losses of the season after 49-32 loss to Warsaw at home Dec. 19.
Triton was paced by 19 points from Kylie Mason, who knocked down 5-of-10 from beyond the arch. Shana Anderson finished with 13 points, Taylor Hatfield scored nine with three assists, Krystal Sellers finished with eight points, and Breanna Lemler clutched 10 rebounds before both she and Mason fouled out for the Trojans, who slid to 8-4.
OD improves to 11-3 meanwhile as the Cats won their second in a row recovering from their first back-to-back losses against Penn and Michigan City at the Texas Roadhouse Holiday Classic at South Bend Washington last Thursday and Friday.
OD will look to keep the good times rolling as the team hosts John Glenn next Tuesday at 7 p.m. CT.
Triton will also follow up against Glenn in a Friday night contest at 8 p.m. at the Trojan Trench.
