Lady Pilgrims win thriller
Plymouth’s girls swim team earned its first victory of the season Monday in a thriller at Tippecanoe Valley, 83-81.
The Lady Pilgrims were led by a trio of swimmers with two wins apiece as Layne Holloway won both the 200 and 100 free, Megan Senter won the 50 and 500 free, Lauren Page won the breaststroke and was a winner on her team’s Medley Relay squad along with Lexi Fetters, Brianda Lowe and Savannah Mae.

Boys swimming
Pilgrims top Tippy Valley
Plymouth’s boys swim team broke into the win column Monday night with an 87-69 win on the road at Tippy Valley.
Brandon Brashere, C.C. Bastardo and Brady Ruffing swept the 50 free, and the Pilgrims won all three relays at the meet.
Brashere also won the 200 free, Ruffing won the diving competition, Jake Martin won both the 100 free and back and Matt Pearson claimed a pair of wins in the fly and the 500 free.

Boys basketball
Lancers rebound at home
LaVille used a 20-8 second quarter to gap visiting Rochester 31-14 at the half, and the Lancers bounced back from a heartbreaking Bi-County championship loss Saturday with a 54-32 win at home at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium Tuesday.
Andrew Hostetler knocked down five 3s on his way to a game-high 17 points, and Blake Berger put up 12 in the win, which pushes the Lancers to 10-4 on the season.
Rochester was led by Jake Cannedy’s 15 in the loss, which drops the Zebras to 3-10.

Girls basketball
OD downs Culver on Coaches vs Cancer Night
Four Lady Bobcats scored in double figures, and Class A No. 2 Oregon-Davis backed up a Bi-County semifinal victory with a 70-36 defeat of visiting Culver Community Tuesday.
Ashley Campbell and Haley Collings each finished with 16, Alicia McIntosh scored 15, and Lexi Minix dropped 13 in the win over the Sectional 51 foes.
Collings also clutched 10 rebounds, and Campbell finished with seen steals and six assists as the Cats hosted a Coaches vs Cancer night at the Den.
Tatum Schultz put up 13 points with five steals and three assists, and Kayla Shaffer scored 11, while Donna Zehner grabbed a game-high 12 caroms in Culver’s second straight loss to OD after falling to the Cats in the Bi-County Tournament semifinals last Thursday.

Lady Trojans bounce back
Triton bounced back from a tough loss in the Bi-County championship game with a comfortable 58-34 win on the road at Manchester Tuesday.
Shana Anderson poured in a game-best 20 points with five rebounds and four steals, Taylor Hatfield finished with 13 points, and Kylie Mason scored 11 in the win, which pushes Triton to 14-5 on the season.
Manchester was led by Bekah Brunn’s and Autumn Brewer’s seven points apiece.

Bremen starts fast
Bremen jumped out to a 31-7 lead at the first quarter break, and the Lady Lions coasted to their second win of the season, beating Elkhart Christian 65-46 at home Tuesday night.
Ashley Lucchese rained in five 3-pointers for a game-high 25 points, including 15 in the first quarter as the Lions jumped on the visitors early. Brooke Snyder scored 14, and Sara Slabaugh finished with 10 as seven different Bremen players scored in the win.
ECA was led by Hailey Fultz’s 21 and Dora Jongsma’s 10.

CGA beats Western Reserve
Culver Girls Academy converted on 17-of-19 free throws, and the Lady Eagles won the consolation game at their home invite Saturday, 56-40 over Western Reserve.
Andrijana Cvitkovic and Victoria Christlieb led CGA with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Cvitkovic also tallied 14 rebounds with six assists in the win, which moves the team to 9-6.
Western Reserve was led by Nicky Waldeck’s game-high 22.

Freshman boys basketball
Plymouth 9th wins again
The Plymouth freshmen boys basketball earned a win over Wawasee Thursday night, 42-19.
The Pilgrims turned in a dominant performance led by Matt Friar, who scored 16 of his game-high 18 points in the first half as the Pilgrims claimed a 29-10 halftime advantage.
Plymouth then cruised through the second half for the victory with eight of 10 players scoring in the game.
Plymouth improves to 9-3 on the season.
