8th grade girls basketball
Lady Red Storm 8th opens 2-0
The Lincoln eighth grade girls basketball team began its season with two consecutive the Lady Red Storm defeated Milford 49-15 and on Tuesday they ran their record to 2-0 with a 43-14 win over Wawasee.
Nicole Horvath led the team in combined scoring, averaging 19 points a game, followed by Victoria Styers at 10 points per contest.
Lincoln received strong frontcourt play from Lanae Singleton and Jenna Thomas and great guard play from Anna Bockman, Ashley Harrell and Brittani Splix.
Other early season highlights include an eight-point performance by Destiny Schoff and great outside shooting from Hanna Hopple and Maddy Samuelson.

Starr snaps slump in PUC win
Plymouth product Alex Starr snapped out of a recent slump, and the Purdue University Calumet womenâ€™s basketball team cruised to an 83-43 victory over rival Calumet St. Joseph on Wednesday night at the Fitness and Recreation Center.
Starr scored 20 points and red hot 6-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc to lead the Peregrines, who opened the game on a 17-3 run and never looked back to improve to 13-7 overall and 10-4 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
