Girls basketball
CGA resumes play with win
The Lady Eagles hit the court running after nearly month-long holiday layover, and Culver Girls Academy claimed a 71-13 rout of visiting Lakeland Christian Saturday.
Andrijana Cvitkovic and Victoria Christlieb scored 23 and 22 points, respectively, for CGA, and Cvitkovic finished with 15 rebounds and five assists. Alle Baker also finished in double figures with 10 points in the win, which pushes the team to 8-5 on the season.
Lakeland was led by six points from Jessica Goss as the visitors fell behind 39-5 at the half after a scoreless second quarter.

Lady Lancers bounce back
Kelsey Gurtner scored a game-high 13 points, and LaVille bounced back from a tough conference loss at Knox Friday with a 55-34 win over visiting Buchanan Saturday.
Hannah Herbster and Lauren Hostrawser each put up nine points for the Lady Lancers, who had nine different players score in the win to move to 7-7 on the season.
Mackenzie Orphanidis scored nine, and Madison Prillwitz had eight for Buchanan.

Boys basketball
OD stumbles at Elkhart Christian
Blake Hurford finished with 24 points, but it wasn’t enough to give the Bobcats a second straight win in a 74-40 road loss at Elkhart Christian Saturday.
It was Hurford’s second straight game leading the Bobcats offensively, and Zach Johnston scored 10 for the visitors, but they struggled to find meaningful points production from the rest of their lineup in the loss.
ECA was paced by a game-high 25 from Ryan Kupferschmid, while Tanner Watson finished with 19 in the win for the home team.

CMA falls short
Culver Military Academy fell behind by nine at the half following a solid first quarter, and the Eagles stayed winless with a competitive 48-45 loss to Buchanan on the road in Michigan Saturday.
Bardley Fisher, Eljay Murray and Nick Zalduendo all finished in double digits for Culver with 14, 11 and 11 points, respectively.
Buchanan was led by 18 from Tyler Flynn and 12 from Kevin Dey.

Wrestling
Bremen hosts super dual
New Prairie won the Bremen Super Dual with a perfect 5-0 record, while the host Lions finished third at 3-2, Triton was fourth at 2-3, and Culver Community rounded out the team standings in sixth place.
The Cougars had eight different weight class champions in the team win.
John Ahlenius topped the 145-pound standings for Culver, while Caleb Coffel was the heavyweight champion for Bremen.
Triton wins were over Culver and Concord, while Bremen beat Culver, Concord and Triton and fell six points shy of a win in the loss to Jimtown.

LaVille tops at Westview
LaVille had three individual champions, and the Lancers went a perfect 5-0 to top the team standings at the Westview Super Dual Saturday.
Tristan Weaver topped the 120-pound pool, Ben Norton was the 152-pound winner, and Devin Johnson won the championship at 160 for LaVille, which dominated the meet. The Lancers’ only real competition was Eastside, which they dispatched 42-35.

Girls swimming
Plymouth, NorthWood compete at girls NLCs
Host Northridge won the girls Northern Lakes Conference Championship with 413 points, while NorthWood finished seventh with 115 points, and Plymouth rounded out the team standings with a score of 90.
Melissa Berger won the dive competition for NorthWood with a score of 381.3. The Lady Pilgrims were unable to break into the top three at the meet, which was dominated by the top four of Northridge, Concord, Goshen and Wawasee.

Boys hockey
Balanced CMA beats Chaminade
Culver Military had five different players score, and the Eagles varsity A team earned a 5-2 win over visiting Chaminade College Prep over the weekend.
Phil Kreuser, Jimmy Callan, Pete Faulkner, Luke Israel and Dan Meloni all scored for CMA. Meloni also recorded an assist in the win, and Logan Badalich finished with two assists for the Eagles, who outshot the visitors 41-22. Cam Burggrade tallied 20 saves for the win in goal.
In the Eagles varsity B game, meanwhile, Chris Neu and Peyton Frantti both scored in the third period to lift CMA past Munster 3-2.
