Ramona Everly
March 15, 1938-June 20, 2011
PLYMOUTH — Ramona J. Everly, 73, 822 Dickman St., Plymouth, passed away Monday, June 20, 2011, at 9:20 a.m., at her home.
Ramona was born March 15, 1938, in Hamlet to Ivan and Velda (Hendricks) Singleton. She started working at Rose’s and then the Hi-De-Ho truck stops in Hamlet before she was married.
Clarence “Bud” Everly and Ramona were married Jan. 5, 1957, in Grovertown. They owned and operated Everly Sewer Service. Bud passed away Dec. 10, 1998. Ramona ran the business, even after Bud’s death. She drove school bus for the Plymouth Community Schools for 30 years and retired when she lost the sight in her left eye. She enjoyed baking and cooking and always “made enough for an army.” Homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, apple pies, and apple dumplings, were some of her specialties. At Halloween there were always homemade popcorn balls to be given out to the “trick-or-treaters.” Ramona loved to be with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always doing special things with them.
Ramona is survived by her daughter, Carol (Jackie) Chapman of Plymouth; her grandson, Michael Chapman and his fiancée Heather O’Conner of Plymouth; her granddaughter, Lisa (Bill) Lovely of Plymouth; her great-grandchildren, Haley Chapman, Zoey Chapman, Braxton Chapman, and Liberty Lovely; her stepson Dwain (Margie) Everly of Plymouth; her stepdaughter, Pat (Jim) Pegan of Roseland; her stepgranddaughters, Carrie Pegan, Michelle (Curt) Jensen, and Becky Jordan; and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Lane Everly, Christopher Everly, Cameron Jordan, Chloe Jordan, and Morgan Jensen; her brothers, Larry (Lena) Singleton of Koontz Lake, and James (Pat) Singleton of Walkerton; and her sisters, Ida (Eugene) Roberson of Plymouth, Velma (Pete) Phenis of Walkerton, and Glenna (Leigh Roy) Hahn of North Judson. She was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother, and her great-grandchild, Braden J. Chapman.
