PLYMOUTH — Calvary Lutheran Preschool in Plymouth held its annual garage sale Thursday and Friday, a major fundraiser according to director Diane Eveland.
Eveland explained that since many of the 55 children in the preschool get scholarships, tuition no longer covers all of the daycare’s costs. The money raised from the two-day sale will go to buy learning materials for the preschool.
“We couldn’t do it without the parents,” said Eveland gratefully, adding that parents of the preschool children had come in all week to help set up for the sale.
Preschool parents as well as members of the church and community donated items for the garage sale, ranging from several television sets in good condition to a multitude of children’s and adults clothing. On Friday, customers had the opportunity to fill a bag for $1. Parents also chipped in with baked goods to sell.
Eveland said that in addition to donations, the daycare rented out spots to vendors for $25 each.
Items not sold at the sale will be donated to Goodwill. Any books not purchased will be donated to the Plymouth Public Library book sale.
