Icy road to blame for accident
PLYMOUTH — Icy road conditions were blamed for an accident that happened Tuesday morning at 9B Road east of Fir Road in Plymouth. Crystal Overmyer, 18, Plymouth, had been driving a 2003 Chevy Cavalier east on 9B at 7:55 a.m. when it began to slide. She lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road and into a utility pole. Overmyer complained of pain from the accident but refused treatment at the scene.
Man’s death being investigated
CULVER — The death of a 40-year-old Culver man Tuesday afternoon is still being investigated by Marshall County Police. A 911 call came in at 2:58 p.m. that a man in the 15000 block of S.R. 17 in Culver was not breathing. At the scene, Jeremy Todd Young was found deceased. Marshall County Coroner Bill Clevenger was contacted and is currently heading an investigation into the cause of death. Culver EMS, Culver Police and Marshall County Police assisted at the scene.
Icy road causes accident Tuesday
PLYMOUTH — Icy road conditions were blamed for an accident that took place Tuesday night in Plymouth. Nathaniel L. Mevis, 26, Lakeville, was driving a 2006 Chevy Monte Carlo north on Michigan Road on the bridge over U.S. 31 at 10:05 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and slid into the face of the guardrail. Damage was reported at both the front and rear ends of his car.
Amplifier stolen from car
PLYMOUTH — A car stereo amplifier was reported stolen from a vehicle at a home on the 3000 block of Nutmeg Road, Plymouth on Wednesday. The owner of the vehicle told police at 7:24 a.m. that the theft occurred some time the night before or early Jan. 19. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact local police.
Weather conditions cause for accident
BREMEN — Weather conditions were to blame for an accident that took place Wednesday in Bremen. Cheryl Welty, 58, Wakarusa, had been driving a 1989 Jeep south on Dogwood at U.S. 6 at 6:15 a.m. when she lost control of her vehicle. The Jeep went off the roadway, hitting a stop sign and post.
Argument leads to arrest
PLYMOUTH — A 21-year-old Plymouth man was arrested by the Marshall County Police Department Wednesday after a call led police to Gate wood Estates. The call came in at 7:42 p.m. that a verbal fight was taking place at lot #17 and when the officer arrived at the scene, he was told that John R. Bush Jr. had run out the back door because he was wanted on two felony warrants. After a short foot pursuit, Bush was arrested for two counts of failure to appear, public intoxication, and resisting law enforcement.
Police looking for information
PLYMOUTH — Police are looking for information regarding a theft that took place early Wednesday morning. A report was called in at 8:50 a.m. from a resident living in the 17000 block of 14th Road that someone had stolen power tolls including a drill and chainsaw. Those with information are asked to call Deputy J.C. Sharp at 574-936-3187.
