Plymouth rallies past Triton

BOURBON — Close basketball games are often decided at the free throw line.
The Lady Trojans committed 17 second-half fouls to put Plymouth in the double bonus less than 2 minutes into the fourth quarter. Three Triton starters eventually fouled out, and the Pilgrims went on to capitalize at a 12-for-17 free throw rate in the final 6 minutes to rally past Triton for a 52-47 victory at The Trojan Trench Thursday.
“They just kept putting us at the line, which I think helped,” said Plymouth head girls basketball coach Dave Cox. “Anyway... I think the free throws got us over. But give our kids credit, they could have folded. But you’ve got to give Triton a lot of credit.”
“Plymouth did a good job executing what they needed to do, getting to the line. Plymouth’s going to make free throws, and they did,” said Triton head coach Adam Heckaman.
