Plymouth Chamber holds annual meeting
PLYMOUTH — It was all about business Thursday night at the annual meeting of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, and business was good.
Chamber president Ryan Jessen told the crowd of 160 that the chamber has shown “record breaking” growth in five years, tripling membership and surpassing membership benchmarks. Instead of a growth rate of 1.3 percent experienced by other chambers, Plymouth logged a rate of 8.6 new members and a retention rate of 97 percent.
The focus of the evening was on honoring the organizations, businesses and individuals who make a difference.
The evening also included awards for the Chamber Ambassador of the Year, which was given to Vickie Talcott, Not for Profit Organization of the Year, Business of the Year and Person of the Year. These are nominated by the Board and selected through membership vote.
Earthworks was honored as the 2013 Not for Profit Organization. Johnson-Danielson funeral Home was selected as the Business of the Year, with owner Randy Danielson earning recognition as the chamber’s Person of the Year.
Sponsors for the meeting were: CenturyLink, Swan Lake Resort, Zentis, Plymouth Community Schools, Morrow Insurance Agency and The Center at Donaldson. The meeting was held at Christos Banquet Hall.
