Plymouth’s Miller rounds out career at state finals

February 14, 2011

INDIANAPOLIS — Plymouth senior Kenzie Miller wrapped up her high school career with a pair of top five finishes at the 37th Annual IHSAA Girls State Swimming Finals at the IUPUI Natatorium Saturday.
Miller clocked a 56.02 to place third in the 100-yard backstroke in her best finish in four years of state qualifying in the event, and she swam a 2:05.02 in the 200-yard Individual Medley to finish fourth in her third state appearance in that event.
The Texas Christian University recruit entered the state championships with the number one seed time in the IM after a Warsaw Sectional record-breaking 2:04.72 performance but fell .3 seconds off that personal-best pace to round out the season in fourth. Her 56.02 in the back — where she has been a first alternate with a 25th-place finish at the AT&T Nationals — was a whopping .75 seconds better than her sectional championship time last week.
