MONTEREY — Pauline E. Chapman, 97, of Monterey, passed away at 2:36 a.m. Oct. 29, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.
Pauline was born in Monterey April 25, 1915 to Ferdinand and Walburga (Keller) Olds. She attended school in Monterey and after the schoolhouse burned down, finished school in a sheep barn. She was married July 4, 1937 to Lester (Bus) Chapman in Leiters Ford. He preceded her in death in February 1972.
She was a lifetime resident of Monterey and a member of the Monterey United Methodist Church, the Monterey United Methodist Women, and the Monterey Birthday Club. She enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Paul) Master of Plymouth; sister, Katherine Kors of Hobart; daughter-in-law, Leah Chapman of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, James.
A time of visitation will be held at the Monterey United Methodist Church Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. Pastor Nancy Foster will officiate funeral services at 4 p.m. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Cemetery in Monterey.
Memorials may be given to the Monterey United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
