Park Dept. egg hunt coming up April 7

March 30, 2012

PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth Park Department will again host a free Easter egg hunt for area children April 7 beginning at 12:15 p.m. The hunt will take place near the wooden play equipment at Centennial Park, and there will be three different age-appropriate sections where children can look for the eggs.
“We have one area for walking to 4 years old, one area for 5 to 7 years, and one for ages 8 to 11,” said recreation director Scott Michel. “There will be a special prize for each age group.”
Prizes include a giant stuffed bunny and an iPod shuffle. Rather than having the winner as the child who finds the most eggs, the big winner in each category will be the child who finds the egg with the prize certificate inside. All of the eggs have candy or small toys in them. While the hunt is going on, there will be a Coca-Cola trailer set up giving out free drinks and popcorn. Children can also take their turn going down a bouncy inflatable slide.
“This event prevents families from having to hide their own eggs (on Easter),” said Michel, adding that he has recruited a team to help him place the eggs prior to the hunt.
There will also be a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Plymouth Kiwanis Club, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Webster Center. At $4 for adults and $3 for children, the meal is a bargain — especially considering the special guest in attendance, the Easter Bunny himself.
“The Easter Bunny will go around and sit with the kids, and say hi to them,” said Michel.
Tickets for the breakfast can be purchased in advance at the park office, or at the door on the day of. For more information about the breakfast or the Easter egg hunt, contact the park office at 574-936-2876.
