Oregon-Davis names Crown Point’s Crawford as new boys basketball coach

June 22, 2011

HAMLET — Oregon-Davis High School announced the hiring of Matt Crawford as Physical Education Teacher and Head Boys Basketball Coach of the Bobcats on Tuesday.
Crawford is a graduate of Northridge High School and attended Goshen College where he played basketball for four years. As an assistant at Brownsburg, he was part of a program that won the state championship in the 2007-2008 season. Crawford has been an assistant boys basketball coach at Crown Point the past two seasons.
Crawford replaces former O-D head coach Matt Richie, who posted a 10-51 record in his three seasons at the helm of the Bobcat program, including a 3-18 mark for the 2010-11 season. Richie departs the program with son Zach, who led the state in scoring last season and finished with a 31.4-points-per-game average, including a school record 55 points during a 94-90 loss to Gary 21st Century on December 15.
