OD’s Moore first to commit to Ancilla volleyball
HAMLET — Oregon-Davis senior Jessica Moore recently became the first member of the Class of 2012 to sign her National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Letter of Intent to play volleyball for Ancilla College.
“The team and the coaching staff were very welcoming,” said Moore. “I’ve also heard good things about the nursing program. It will be nice to be close to home.”
Moore, who has been playing the middle blocker position, began attending Oregon-Davis this fall after moving from Wilmington High School in Illinois.
In her first year on varsity last season at Wilmington, Moore and the Wildcats were I-8 South Conference Champions, as well as winners of three tournaments throughout the season under the direction of Coach Bethany Hincherick. After the season, Moore was named Most Improved Player for Wilmington.
Throughout high school, Moore has been involved in FCCLA, Anti-Bullying Club, Youth Club, Spanish Club, Track and Cheer.
“Jess is a leader on the floor and a great representative of a student-athlete,” said Oregon-Davis Athletic Director Greg Estok.
“I am very excited that Jess has chosen Ancilla College,” said Ancilla coach Lana Singleton. “I believe she will be a great addition to our team and we will be a good fit for her both academically and athletically. I also love to find local talent.”
Jess is the daughter of Michael and Chris Moore.
