NorthWood’s Olson selected for Player of the Week honors
NAPPANEE — NorthWood's Morgan Olson was named an IBCA/ Subway Player of the Week for her performances in wins over Elkhart Central and Elkhart Memorial last week.
Olson averaged 25.5 points and eight rebounds for NorthWood (5-3) to capture honors in girls’ District 1. The 5-11 senior scored 18 points with three rebounds, two assists and two steals as the Panthers walloped Elkhart Central 60-18. The Youngstown State signee followed with 33 points and 18 rebounds in a 64-50 win over Elkhart Memorial. Over both games, Olson converted 18-of-31 shots from the floor and 15-of-20 free throws.
The NorthWood senior was joined by Park Tudor senior Trevon Bluiett, Garrett junior Justin McCoy, Orleans junior Cale Hall, Lawrence North senior Ana Owens and Princeton sophomore Jackie Young as Week 5 honorees in the program overseen by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.
This is the sixth season for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week program and the second season it is presented by Subway Restaurants of Indiana, a banner sponsor of the IBCA. Player of the Week winners are chosen each week from each of the IHSAA’s three districts. Girls winners will be chosen from now through the week following March 8. Boys winners will be chosen from now through the week following March 29.
