PLYMOUTH — Norris Allen Krathwohl, 78, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully, at Saint Joseph Hospital, in Mishawaka, on Friday, June 14, 2013.
Norris was born to Homer and Pearl (Abbiehl) Krathwohl in Lakeville, on March 6, 1935. Their family moved to Bremen, where they lived for many years. Norris took Lois Hartung, to be his bride, Jan. 9, 1954. They were married in the Plymouth Church of the Brethren and had 59 years together, as husband and wife.
Norris’ first job was at the Bremen Foundry, where he worked his senior year, after school. Norris and his father bought a can milk route, which they had for five years. The rest of his career was spent; working in South Bend, at Bendix for two years; worked for the Indiana State Highway and helped with the construction to change U.S. Highway 31 from two lanes to four lanes, between LaPaz and Lakeville; Bremen Bearing for 29 years; U.S. Granules, in Plymouth, for 15 years; Plymouth Park Department for two years, doing repairs and painting; and in 1999 he was hired at the First United Methodist Church, in Plymouth, as their custodian for 12 years. Norris was also a member of the Moose Lodge #741, in Plymouth.
Norris is survived by his wife, Lois Krathwohl; their daughters, Pamela Chizum of Plymouth and Kim (Pete) Paul of Argos; their sons, Jay “J.D.” (Alicia) Krathwohl of McAllen, Texas, Steven (Mary) Krathwohl of Plymouth, and Mark (Barbara) Krathwohl of Plymouth; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his brother, Norman Krathwohl of Bremen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marjorie Krathwohl; his sister and brother-in-law, Mardell and Chester Proctor; and his stepson, Eric Barden.
