Nationally renowned comedy improv group highlights CBGC auction
Earlier this year, the Culver Boys and Girls Club (CBGC) announced plans for its annual fundraising event, “Building Brighter Futures” to be held Friday, June 14 at the Culver Academies Lay Dining Center from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The reservation deadline for the event is June 1.
The auction committee has announced the entertainment for the event, Mission IMPROVable, a comedy improv act. Auction committee member Noreen Faulkner signed the group and says that they have performed alongside members of Saturday Night Live, Mad TV, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Mission IMPROVable has a home theater in Los Angeles, CA. Chairman of the auction committee Carol Zeglis says, “We are thrilled that we could get Mission IMPROVable to entertain our guests. Every year, we try to find entertainment that will draw a crowd, and we know that Mission IMPROVable will do that once again this year.”
Dianne Osborn, a board member for CBGC known by committee members for her amazing talent at collecting several of the auction items, says that there are a number of new items for this year’s silent auction and live auction.
“Our donors have been very generous with us and we have found new donors,” she says.
Zeglis adds, “Dianne always gets so many new items and great items from area businesses. She also goes out of town to solicit new donors and this year, she has found some fantastic items that haven’t been part of the auction before now. All of the CGGC board members are obtaining items to the auction, so there is something for everyone.”

Ginny Munroe, current board Chairwoman, says, “I think those who have attended our event in the past know how hard we work to put on a great show and how important it is to our fundraising efforts. We work up until the last minute to get everything in place, but it’s always worth it when we see the community come out to support the youth in this community. We are so fortunate that so many businesses and individuals support our club through the auction event and through our One Campaign. We wouldn’t have record numbers of kids attending every year and new programming for them if we didn’t have such strong support from the community.”
The auction admission price includes beer and wine, hearty hors d'oeuvres, the annual silent auction, and the entertainment. Admission to the event is $40 per person or $75 per couple. The event is completely underwritten, so all proceeds go directly to the club.
