Nappanee’s Biggest Loser event returns

January 2, 2013

NAPPANEE — It’s that time of year again — time for putting away those decorations, returning those gifts and feeling guilty about indulging in all the holiday goodies.
Those in the Nappanee area that want to challenge themselves to get back on track and lose weight and don’t mind a little friendly competition (and a chance to win cash) can take part in the annual Nappanee Biggest Loser program.
Jan. 10 there will be a kick-off meeting at Nappanee Health and Fitness at 7:30 p.m. and then competitors will have only three days to “put away” the leftover treats before the contest is officially underway Monday, Jan. 14. The top man and woman who lose the highest overall percentage of their body weight will each win $250. The entry fee is $15 and participants will receive a free T-shirt.
Email dawn@nappaneechamber.com to sign up or stop by Nappanee Health and Fitness to sign up.
Last year the local competition helped 31 people lost a total of 435.1 pounds — an average of 14 pounds per person or an average of 6.8 percent of body weight. Those healthy efforts led 27 people lose 483.25 Inches — an average of 17.9 inches per person.
