PLYMOUTH — Myrtle C. Nye, 102, a resident of the area for more than 60 years, passed away at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 in the Pilgrim Manor, Plymouth.
Myrtle Claire Nye was born, on her parents’ kitchen table, in Inwood on Sept. 5, 1910 to Annon S. and Edna Florence Catherine (Anderson) Nye. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1928 and was a Beta Sigma Phi.
She worked for NIPSCO for 32 years in sales/bookkeeping before retiring in 1975. Myrtle also worked for Unique Bakery for 15 years. She was involved in the local 4-H for many years.
Myrtle loved animals, being outdoors, crocheting and being with her family. She even took a trip to Sweden to visit a cousin and tour their stock home, a trip she never forgot.
Surviving are her two nieces, Sandra Ruff of Plymouth and Linda (Kenneth) Caster of Monticello: a great-niece, Lana Caster, a great-nephew, Kit Caster, and a great-great nephew, Kyler Caster, all of Monticello.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Roy Nye, and an infant sister, Irene Elaine Nye.
Visitation on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m in the funeral home
Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery.
