PLYMOUTH — Miriam Louise Kemble, 85, residing at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth, passed away at 3:20 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013. She was born July 3, 1928 in St. Joseph County to the late Roscoe and Anna (Stump) Mangus. She had lived in the Lakeville area all of her life, recently residing in the River Park Community, Plymouth.
On Aug. 5, 1995, Miriam was married at Pine Creek Church of the Brethren in Lakeville to Paul Kemble, who survives. Also surviving are two brothers, Warren (Patricia) Mangus of Farmington, N.M. and Galien (Wanda) Mangus of Lakeville; stepdaughter, Bethany A. Kemble of South Bend; stepson, David A. (Valerie) Kemble of Plymouth; two grandchildren, Kimberley (Matt) Rippey of Goshen and Katrina Kemble; two great-grandsons and many nieces and nephews and their children. She also leaves a wealth of friends she dearly loved from her church family and many throughout the Michiana area that remember her fondly. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Edwin H. Springer on June 26, 1980 and her stepson, John A. Kemble on Dec. 31, 1998.
Miriam has been a lifelong member of the Pine Creek Church of the Brethren. As a young lady, she served on many committees, including Church World Services which helped clean up war damage in Germany and Austria.
In 2008, Miriam was presented the Life Time Achievement Award for her continuous commitment, dedication and service to the Mission of Dismas House in South Bend.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 at Pine Creek Church of Brethren, 25075 Stanton Road, North Liberty. Interment will follow at Fair Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services. Palmer Funeral Home - Lakeville is assisting the family with arrangements.
