Miller clears record boards

December 4, 2010

PLYMOUTH — Alexander wept when he saw there were no more worlds left to conquer.
Kenzie Miller just gave a sly smile.
The finish wasn't dramatic, but it signified something very special as the Plymouth senior and Texas Christian University signee clocked in a full 11 seconds faster than her closest competitor, breaking the Lady Pilgrims' school record for the 100-yard breast stroke with a time of 1:10.59.
The breast stroke was the last domino to fall for Miller, who now owns school records in all 13 swimming events and pool records in all but one after her record-breaking performance in Plymouth's first home meet of the year Thursday against New Prairie.
"My freshman year, I remember coming in I remember looking at the board after the first meet or so and I started breaking records," said Miller. "Even before the season started I said I'm going to break every single one of those records. It took four years because I don't swim breast stroke, but I did it. That was one of my goals to get either the school record or the pool record, and I did it."
"Kenzie has been working so hard all season," said Plymouth head girls swim coach Chelsea Bramfield. "Her leadership and her hard work ethic in practice definitely shines through in the meets. I'm so excited for her. Swimming with her for three years has been such an honor. She's a coach's dream."
While Miller won both the the 100 breast and 100 and swam the anchor on the Lady Pilgrims' winning 200 medley relay team, it wasn't enough to lift the Lady Pilgrims to a win, as Plymouth's girls lost the meet by a slim 97-89 margin.
