Miles wins Miss Valentine 2011
\BOURBON — Hannah Miles is the most recent lucky little girl to be dubbed “Miss Valentine” at a “Apple of My Eye Daddy-Daughter Dance.”
The 8-year-old is the daughter of Thomas and Tracie Miles, Bourbon. She said she was hoping she would be called upon to carry the title revered in the little girl circuit in the Triton school district, and that she also hoped everyone there Saturday evening “would have a good time.”
When asked what went through her mind when she heard hints announced by Kathryn Chapman-Dreibelbis — that it was Miles’ age, then initials, then name called — she replied, “I won! Yeah! I’m Miss Valentine.”
The drawing is always held at the end of the event that includes appetizers, dancing and lots of giggling, and aside from drawings for various other prizes, is the highlight of the evening. The dance was one birthed by Chapman-Dreibelbis as a fundraiser for the Triton Summerfest, a promotion of the Little Miss Triton pageant that is featured during the annual festival in Bourbon, and a chance for young ladies to spend one-on-one time to strengthen the bond with their significant male role model ... that is ... if the men can steal the girls from their friends and keep up with them on the dance floor.
Roughly 150 young ladies and their escorts attended the event, now in its sixth year, held at the Matchett Square Senior Center in Bourbon. As always, Greg and Candi Craft provided musical entertained (as deejays).
