Michael DePoy
Nov. 10, 1952 - July 2, 2013
CULVER — A wonderful, caring, loving heart, stopped beating Tuesday, July 2, 2013. Michael David DePoy, “Mike”, as he was fondly known by family and friends, age 60, of Culver, went to sleep, and peacefully passed away at his farm, in Culver.
Mike was born Nov. 10, 1952, in Plymouth, to George and Ruth (Hood) DePoy. He was a gentle, loving, man who loved his family, especially his two daughters, Amanda and Crystal; his grandchildren, Marcel and Jazzlyn; and his long time companion, Marilyn.
Mike was an avid horseman. He loved, taking anyone who wanted to, on a “pony and wagon” ride. He loved hunting and fishing. He never hesitated, if you needed something, he was always there to lend a helping hand. Mike always believed in a hard day’s work. He passed those traits on to his girls and grandchildren. Mike had been a very active member of the Culver Eagles FOE and Frances Slocum Trail Riders, for many years. He enjoyed camping and sitting around the campfire, with friends, seeing who could tell the biggest and best story. He had been an avid farmer all of his life and was able to achieve his lifelong dream, of owning a farm, of his very own. He also farmed for various other local farmers over the years. Mike was a semi-driver, for many years, and drove thousands of miles, hauling that many loads, to various destinations.
Mike is survived by his loving daughters, Amanda DePoy of Leiters Ford and Crystal DePoy of Culver; his grandson, Marcel White of Culver; his granddaughter, Jazzlyn White of Culver; his parents, George and Ruth DePoy of Culver; his longtime companion, Marilyn Hagenbush of Culver; Marilyn’s children, her son, Jake Hagenbush of West Lafayette and her daughter, Jodi Hagenbush of Argos; Mike’s brothers, Phillip (Evelyn) DePoy of Culver and John (Pam) DePoy of Knox; Mike’s sister, Claudia (Tom) Biggins of Plymouth; and several nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Christine DePoy.
