Mercer, Knapp, Lee given All-NLC honors

February 22, 2013

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth’s boys basketball team received two first-team All Northern Lakes Conference selections and one honorable mention pick as the league announced its all-conference nominations Thursday.
Senior guard Joe Knapp and junior forward Mack Mercer were both named to the All-NLC first team, while senior guard David Lee was given all-conference honorable mention.
NorthWood juniors Jonathan Wilkinson and Zach Zurcher were both named to the All-NLC first team as well.
Concord, which won the NLC championship with a perfect 7-0 record, was given three first team picks — Ball State-bound senior forward Franko House, junior Ramon Johnson and sophomore Filip Serwatka
— and an HM nomination.
Plymouth wound up in a three-way tie for second place in the competitive conference with a 4-3 record alongside Elkhart Memorial and Goshen. The Pilgrims’ three league losses were the team’s only losses all season, and all came in overtime — against NorthWood at home Dec. 14 and at Concord and Northridge Jan. 11 and 25, respectively.
NorthWood finished in a three-way tie for fifth at 3-4 with Northridge and Warsaw. Wawasee rounded out the league standings in eighth at 0-7.
