McCay signs with Hanover College

ARGOS — Carly McCay, a 2012 Argos High School graduate, has signed to play soccer at Hanover College.
McCay, daughter of Mike and Rhonda McCay, was a four-year letter winner for Argos. A center midfielder and captain, she led the Dragons to the semistate and Northern Indiana Soccer Conference title this past season. She was a first team all-conference selection twice for the Dragons, won the varsity mental attitude award and was named honorable mention for the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association Academic All-State team.
Argos coach Jon Alcorn said, “Carly made a great impact on our program. You would be hard-pressed to find a better all-around student-athlete. She was diligent in the classroom and a leader on and off the field. We will miss her energetic personality that was so important to last year’s successful team. Hanover College’s soccer program will benefit greatly from the kind of person she is.”
Hanover College’s Jim Watts said, ‘We are very excited that Carly McCay has committed to play soccer at Hanover College. Carly is a versatile player who will immediately add depth and competition in both our midfield and defense. Carly’s experiences playing at Argos and Michiana Echo as well as her great mentality and strong leadership will be wonderful assets to our program. Carly is part of an exceptionally strong freshmen class that we expect will really impact our team this fall and for the next four years.”
Hanover College won the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in 2011, going 39-15-2 the past three years.
