Maxinkuckee Players take the show to the road

June 15, 2011

Cast members of the Maxinkuckee Players work on their upcoming show: Julie Scott, Candice Lehmen-Diltz, Kerri Bash, and Traci O'Brien. Back: Charlie Weaver and Brian Liechty.

CULVER — Fans of the Maxinkuckee Players' show from years past, “Nunsense,” will be interested in the group's brand new show for this summer—”Nunsense: The Mega-Musical,” written by Dan Goggin.
“It's the same as the original (Nunsense), but with a larger cast,” said director Becky Liechty. “We have three returning cast members, Andrea Mallory as Reverend Mother, Kathy Overmeyer as Sister Mary Amnesia, and Kerri Bash as Sister Robert Ann.”
The Maxinkuckee Players usually perform at the Culver High School Auditorium, but this summer the auditorium is being renovated, so the show is going on the road. The Players will have six performances in Argos, two in Bremen, two in North Judson, and two in Culver at the end of the summer, to celebrate the finished renovation.
“When we found out we were taking the show to the road this year, we decided to do Nunsense, because it's a one set show, and doesn't have a lot of costumes,” said Liechty. “Nuns basically have one outfit!”
Although having a moving show will be a change, Liechty is excited about the prospect of bringing the Maxinkuckee Players to different areas.
“We have performed at Culver for 30 years,” said Liechty. “We have had a fabulous working relationship with Culver High School. (The renovation) affects us greatly, but we are happy they are renovating.”
The group will have their first performance at 7:30 p.m., Friday, July 22 at the Argos High School auditorium. Opening night tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. All other shows are for $10 for adults and $5 for children 18 and under. Other shows in Argos are as follows: July 24, 4 p.m.; July 27, 7:30 p.m.; July 29, 7:30 p.m.; July 30, 7:30 p.m.; and July 31, 4 p.m.
Showtimes for Bremen are: Aug. 6, 7:30 p.m. and Aug. 7, 4 p.m. Showtimes for North Judson are: Aug. 13, 7:30 p.m. and Aug. 14, 4 p.m. Showtimes for Culver are: Aug. 20, 7:30 p.m. and Aug. 21, 4 p.m. All shows will take place at local time.
