NAPLES, Fla. — Mary Ann (Underwood) Summy, born Jan. 5, 1926 in Plymouth, died, Nov. 13, 2012.
She was married to her loving husband, Russell D. (Ward) Summy in 1945. He preceded her in death in 1986. She is survived by son, Gary (Laurie) Summy and daughter, Susan (Jim) Mishler. Four grandchildren were the love and joy of her life; Kathryn Mishler and Emily (Mishler) Rupchock, and Kyle and Gregory Summy.
Mary’s parents were Glen and Catherine (Foltz) Underwood. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1944 and sang in the 1940s with the Russell Steiner Band. Mary attended Northwestern University and was affiliated with Chi Omega Sorority.
After marriage, she and Ward purchased the Fisher Drug Store in Bremen renaming it The Summy Pharmacy in 1946. She was a charter member of Epsilon Pi, a chapter of Tri Kappa Service Sorority. Mary was active in many community and church choirs continuing after relocating to Naples, Fla. in 1979. She was a member of the East Naples United Methodist Church.
Mary was deeply loved by family and many friends and will be missed. A private family remembrance is planned. Memorials can be given to Avow Hospice of Naples, Fla., or your local Hospice.
