PLYMOUTH — Mary E. “Betty” Schroeder, age 96, of Plymouth, passed away at 8:55 p.m., Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at the Catherine Kasper Life Care Center, in Plymouth.
Betty was born Sept. 6, 1916, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Ross and Elizabeth (Guth) Scribner. Betty became the bride of Charles H. Schroeder on May 4, 1940 in Chicago, Ill. The Schroeders had been residents of the Lake Latonka area since 1980. Betty enjoyed working, as the bookkeeper and payroll clerk, for Valparaiso University. She liked singing, playing cards, fishing, reading, and gardening, but her greatest joy, was being a homemaker and mother.
Betty is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Lee Lehman of Plymouth and Madelon Louise Treadon of Florida. Betty was blessed with three grandchildren, Rusty, Duane, and Chris and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Schroeder on Nov. 26, 1985; her three brothers, Simon, Paul, and Bob; and her sister, Mary Ann Fitzpatrick.
