SOUTH BEND — Marjorie Ellen Inwood, residing in South Bend, passed away at 1 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 at the Michiana Health & Rehabilitation Center, Mishawaka. She was 81 years old.
She was born Oct. 30, 1929 in Plymouth, a daughter of Olen O. and Nellie Ruth (Kepler) York, and has been a lifelong resident of Marshall and St. Joseph Counties.
Marge retired in 1990 following 30 years as a secretary with Associates Investment Co., Bendix Corp., and Allied Stamping. She was an active member of Order of Eastern Star Lakeville Chapter #479, and Osceola Chapter #598. She was also a 50-year member of Social Order of the Beauceant-Elkhart Assembly #129.
May 5, 1951 in Plymouth, Marge and Robert Hollis were united in marriage. He preceded her in death in March of 1998. She was also preceded by a brother, Roger O. York. Marge is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth A. “Beth” and Doug Gargis of South Bend, her son and daughter-in-law, Michael A. and Tamara Inwood of South Bend, a granddaughter, Holly L. Rimel of South Bend, three stepgrandchildren, Steven Gargis, Ellaina (Erich) Bishop, Mitchell Baker Beck, and one stepgreat-granddaughter, Esme’.
Memorial services and an Eastern Star service will be at noon, Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Keith Stork will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
