CULVER — Marie Louise (Bernero) Alvis, 88, of Culver, formerly of Argos, died Oct. 19, 2013 at 4:45 p.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor of Culver following a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 8, 1925 in Argos to Louis and Mary (Brizzolera) Bernero.
She had lived in the Argos community most of her life. In 1961 she moved to Indianapolis and returned to the Argos community several years ago.
On Jan. 5, 1961 in Plymouth, she married Roger Lee Alvis. He preceded her on June 15, 2013.
Marie was a beautician in Indianapolis and Argos, and owned the Neighborhood Beauty Shop in Argos.
She was a past member of the James Lowell Corey American Legion Auxiliary Post #68, Argos, and attended Argos High School.
She is survived by daughters – Donna Overmyer and husband Kenneth of Argos; Sandra Pfefferle and husband Barry of Bremen; stepdaughter – Carolyn Alvis of El Sentro, Calif.; stepson – Craig Alvis and wife Stacy of Clyde, Texas; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and son – Terry Treber.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at the funeral home officiated by Chaplain Tom Padberg of the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
Burial will be at New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
