SHADY SHORES, Texas — Marie Kline Carr, 93, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, May 3, 2012. She resided in Shady Shores, Texas with her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Steve Miller.
Marie was born to Erma and Ralph Kline Dec. 18, 1918 in Plymouth. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1936 and was employed as a clerk and secretary until she married Samuel Carr of Argos, Sept. 1, 1940. They made their home in Plymouth where she worked as a teacher aide and library aide until 1976 when they moved to Lake Tansi Village in Crossville, Tenn. Marie was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth and later, an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Crossville, Tenn.
Music was a very important part of Marie’s life and she was an accomplished musician who enjoyed sharing her talents of singing and playing the piano, organ, and violin. She was a charter member of the South Bend Symphony Orchestra and served as organist, choir member, and children’s choir director of the First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth as well as choir member and organist of the First United Methodist Church in Crossville, Tenn.
Marie is survived by her daughters Donna (John) Williams, Janet (Steve) Miller, Mary (Karem) Mallick, son Tom Carr, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Helen (William) Slemons, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Sam, her daughter Judy, her son Richard, and an infant daughter.
A memorial service will be held at a future date at the First United Methodist Church in Crossville, Tenn. Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 752, Crossville, TN 38557.
